About the Platycerium ridleyi dwarf - S

Platycerium ridleyi Dwarf

Platycerium ridleyi Dwarf is a compact and rare form of the well-known Platycerium ridleyi, native to the tropical rainforests of Southeast Asia. This epiphytic fern naturally grows on tree trunks, where it firmly attaches itself and absorbs nutrients from organic debris collected around its roots. Its smaller size makes it especially suitable for collectors with limited space.
This variety is distinguished by its strongly structured shield fronds with deep veins and a funnel-like shape. These fronds collect water and organic material, while the narrow, upright antler fronds give the plant an elegant and sculptural appearance. Despite its compact growth, it retains the impressive character of the species.

Characteristics
  1. Leaves: two types of fronds, deeply veined shield fronds and narrow upright antler fronds.
  2. Growth: epiphytic, firmly attaching to bark or wooden surfaces.
  3. Size: compact to medium, noticeably smaller than the standard form.
  4. Reproduction: does not produce flowers, reproduces through spores on the underside of the fronds.

  6. Habitat: tropical rainforests with high humidity and limited direct sunlight.
  7. Ornament: highly decorative due to its compact form and pronounced structure.
