The leaves display striking patterns of creamy yellow and green marbling which can also extend to the pseudostem. Under favourable conditions the plant can produce bananas that initially have a silvery blue green colour before ripening to yellow. This combination of ornamental foliage and unusual fruit makes the plant highly valued among tropical plant collectors.
