From Greenhouse to Customer

Before a plant reaches a customer, it is grown, checked, prepared, transported and packed. ExoticsAtHome brings these steps together as much as possible at its own locations in the Netherlands and Thailand.

Cultivation and Preparation

The hardy and semi-hardy species are grown in Erica. The tropical species and palm seedlings intended for wholesale are grown at the company in Thailand.

The company’s own greenhouses in Thailand allow it to keep the cultivation process under control. The plants are grown in 100% cocopeat, which makes them easier to export. Thanks to many years of cultivation experience, the plants are free from diseases and pests, grow in the appropriate medium with the correct EC value and are supplied with the correct information. This enables ExoticsAtHome to bring EU-quality plants from its own company in Thailand to Europe.

Preparation differs according to the plant species and growth form. Every plant is checked and carefully prepared for its journey to Europe.

Weekly Shipments and Stock

The company in Thailand now has several greenhouses. Plants are flown to the Netherlands every week to maintain ExoticsAtHome’s stock, supply botanical gardens or send packages to end customers of other webshops.

All plants shown on the website are in stock in the Netherlands. Orders for customers within our European delivery area are dispatched from Erica. Orders to destinations that are not served from Erica are shipped directly from Thailand.

Packaging and Support

Through its previous experience with MyPalmShop, ExoticsAtHome has more than twenty years of experience in packing and shipping plants.

Packing plants is a specialist skill. The shape, foliage and pot of each plant are taken into account. The packaging team in Thailand carefully prepares the plants for shipping.

The pot and growing medium are secured, and the plant is carefully placed in a cardboard shipping box. This keeps movement during transport to a minimum.

Even more important is how the customer is helped when a shipment does not go as planned. Finding the right solution and ensuring a satisfied customer are the highest priorities at ExoticsAtHome.
